Below are a few of the many scriptures that are often quoted out of their Torah based context. Those in normal font are familiar scriptures as they are commonly quoted. The section in bold font completes the scripture in its proper context.
Psalm 1:2-3
His delight is in the Torah of Yahweh, in His Torah he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water.
Proverb 29:18
Where there is no vision the people perish, but happy is he who keeps the Torah.
Hosea 4:6
My people perish for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge I will reject you from being my priest. Since you have forgotten the Torah of your Elohim, I will also forget your children.
Ezekiel 36:26-27
I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh and I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.
Isaiah 1:18
Come let us reason together, says Yahweh. Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool if you consent and obey you will eat the best of the land, but if you refuse and rebel you will be devoured by the sword. Truly the mouth of Yahweh has spoken.
Isaiah 2:3-4
Let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh to the house of the Elohim of Jacob, that He may teach us concerning His ways, and that we may walk in His paths. For the Torah will go forth from Zion, and the Word of Yahweh from Jerusalem. And He will judge between the nations and will render decisions for many peoples, and they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation and never again will they learn war.
John 8:31-32
Yahshua, therefore, was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
John 14:14-15
If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
1 John 3:22
Whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
Deut. 28:1-6
Now it shall be if you diligently obey Yahweh your Elohim, careful to do all His commandments…all these blessings shall overtake you…Blessed in the city…Blessed shall be the offspring…Blessed shall be your basket…Blessed shall you be when you come in and Blessed shall you be when you go out.
Deut. 28:13
Yahweh shall make you the head and not the tail, and you shall be above and not beneath if you will listen to the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim, which I charge you today to observe them carefully.
Deut. 29:29
The secret things belong to Yahweh, but the things revealed belong to us and our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this Torah.
1 Peter 1:15-16
Like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all behavior because it is written, “Be holy for I am holy.” We must go back to where this is originally written and see what the context is for this statement so we can imitate it in all behavior as Peter says. Following is the context of reference:
Lev. 11:44-47 = The commandments regarding the clean animals we may eat and the unclean animals we may not eat.
Lev. 19:2-3 = The commandments regarding keeping Sabbath and honoring parents.
Lev. 20:7-8 = The commandments regarding obedience to Yahweh’s statutes and the forbiddance of mediums.
1 John 2:1-4
…If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Yahshua HaMaschiah the righteous; and He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him” and does not keep His commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him.
1 John 5:1-2
Whoever believes that Yahshua is the Messiah is born of Elohim; and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we love Elohim and keep His commandments.
Rev. 12:17
And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of Yahweh and hold to the testimony of Yahshua.
